Dear All, The Haslemere Town 'B' Band, will be appearing on Carlton Television's "London Tonight" programme on 26th May 1998. The current plan is that there will be some footage of the band recorded a few weeks ago, as well as the Band appearing LIVE. I have included a copy of the recent press release. Regards Graham Wade Musical Director, Haslemere Town Band ------------- The musicians of Haslemere 'B' band spoke out for the cause of music for youth on Saturday 9th May 1998 when they took part in a documentary for Carlton Television's "London Tonight" programme. The camera crew met the children at their rehearsal room at High Lane, Haslemere. The Band were filmed practising their music together. They were also able to voice their opinions about Brass Bands and speak to Helen Downs, Woolmer Hill School's music teacher about their wish to have more music in schools. This was followed by a coach journey to Clandon House, where the youngsters were filmed "on location" in Surrey's beautiful countryside. The day's events culminated beside the River Wey at Guildford where the children met Lionel Bart, composer of the musical "Oliver!" The Band told Lionel Bart about their enthusiasm for music, and asked his views about music for young people. The young musicians then played a selection of tunes from "Oliver!" and were rewarded with applause and praise from the composer. Haslemere's young players greatly enjoyed being television starts for the day. The resulting documentary can be seen on Tuesday 26th May. -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
