The subject of McCanns playing has been covered. You either like it or you
don't. Not many in a grey area on this score. The other lamented point by
Edy was that he is not conducting a top band.

I have nothing against Mr McCann and no axe to grind. I was resident at
Brighouse when we did a joint concert with Sellers and he conducted part.
During the rehearsal some of his band refused to play for him and others
sang or whistled. Hardly anyone could find a good word to say about him.
Friends at Brittania said they knew that they had made a terrible mistake
within weeks of him taking over, especially following a conductor like
Howard Snell (genius) .The sentiments expressed by Monkey and Craig Bennett
were entirely the same for his bandsmen - sarcastic, patronising, rude and
awkward.

Looking forward to meeting him in an underground car park one dark night.
