Peter McNab  (Black Dyke & Brigghouse  in the 50's & 60's)

not only was he a great player he was is also a superb compare with thousands
of gags and one liners.

On playing BBb Bass he said  " it was important to me because I got to help
the greats (soloists) sound even better"  (with quality and sympathetic
accompanyment)

A lesson for all us mortals.
