John Fletcher was one of the first UK tubists to start to use larger continental tubas. I remember going to see him in Leeds Town Hall about 15 years ago. He played the RVW Concerto on his EEb in the first half then joined the orchestra to play Tchaik 6 on a very large CC in the second half. But yes, he did much of his playing on an EEb - especially brass ensemble and solo stuff.
