Jeremy, You seem to favour similar arrangers to myself: >From Ray Farr try the ending of his Firebird arrangement - just do me a favour and tell your euph player to kill the vibrato on the opening if i'm in the audience! You could of course consider the whole arrangement, it's a fine example of transcriptions for brass band. (imho) As an alternative, the Frank Renton arrangement of the Saint Saens Organ Concerto - one of my favourites in the original orchestral version, works well for brass. For other items (not starters of finishers), how about Goff's "Songs of the Quay", Snells "Exhibition Can Can" ( a wonderful mix of Offenbach meets Pictures at an Exhibition), and my current fave arrangement, Adrian's MacArthur Park. Whilst it's quite easy. we've used the Farandole from L'Arlsienne as a concert finale recently -although it did us no favours at a recent entertainment contest, it worked well on our easter dutch tour. As a personal opinion, the standard of the band determines what you are capable of playing - however, the standard (read nature) of the audience determines what they are capable of enjoying; - you don't mention what kind of gig you had in mind. =A0=A0 Andy Wooler Resident Conductor, Uckfield Concert Brass Responses during the world cup will be supported by Morlands "Old Speckled Hen" (5.2%sg) MD The Classic Dance Band, Trumpet: Sussex Symphony Orchestra andy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx , http://www.awooler.demon.co.uk -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
