edrich siebert

I had the pleasure of playing in the same band as Anthony Spurgin who
wrote " A Wealdon Rhapsody" for the 4th section regionals a few years ago.
Tony worked at Chappells as a copyist with Edrich Siebert and told the tale
of how they both came up with their alternative names: Edrich allegedly
used the London phone book and took two names at random to come up with
his - Tony used one of his favourite french tipples and became the A Picon
who was responsible for "Deux Grotesques" which some of you may remember.
Tony is in his 80's now and is still with us although none too well at the
moment.
