It's sometimes difficult to interpret the meaning of the written word, but
if I have understood  the last comment correctly, namely to imply that
Howarth isn't known as a composer outside of bands because his compositions
don't cut the mustard, you could be on dangerous ground.  I can think of one
or two band composers we all know and love who would fall into a similar
category.
