Bert Wiley is about the only source for brass band recordings in the
States. And yes, we are nearly starving for brass band culture.

Other than a select few, (those belonging to NABBA), brass bands, BB
instruments (alto horns, cornets, Eb cornets, Eb tubas), and BB
literature and recordings, is almost unheard of in the US. I live in a
city of 200,000 (last time I counted!) and many musicians I talk to ,
including professionals, know nothing or next to nothing of brass
banding.

>So, what is the brass band situation in the US?

Bleak! (In regard to the overall music scene.) Some of us are trying to
change the situation. But-- I'm having to do it gradually, using French
horns and trumpets ( I know! I know! No Flames Please!) I just can't get
them to give up their Bach Strads!

>Do US bands make CDs?

Brass Band of Battle Creek and River City Brass Band. And they use
trumpets and F horns along with cornets and altos!

Probably not and he's probably right.
