Obviously your friend who thinks Australian bands are loud and raucous and
unmelodic has taken time to listen to all the bands in Australia.

Sure, there are some loud and raucous outfits around but you only have to
have been at this year's National Championships to realise there are some
quite fine, well-balanced and musical bands.

Those who made the cut for the CD Australia '98 are certainly not in the
category referred to. Australia is no different to any other country in
this great big banding family of ours - there's good and bad.
Generalisations are not good to encouraging improvement in understanding
the requirements of good ensemble performance.

As for those in the US/Canada complaining about the cost of importing CDs
from the UK, why not try Australia. Geez, the way our dollar is at the
moment, we are a cheap place to do business.
