Actually, I think the comment was made about brass bands in the
US, not about Australia.  I had the priviledge of hearing the
Melbourne Staff Band a couple of years ago while they were here
touring the US, and their level of musicianship and sensitivity
was absolutely breathtaking.  I saw the New York Staff Band
a month later, and the memory of Melbourne made NYSB actually
hard to listen to.
