From: Rolf G Miezitis@NORTH on 23/06/98 09:27 I found that you can significantly improve the life of Wick plating, simply by giving the mouthpiece a quick wash in cold water after each time you play it (gets rid of the nasty acids, etc. in your own saliva). This will also help prevent those nasty little embouchure zits that crop up occasionally. Rolf Miezitis Glenorchy City Concert Brass http://www.tased.edu.au/tasonline/gccb/gccb.htm I got a wick mouthpiece for my horn about 9 years ago. Within a year the plating was wearing off and getting rough. Someone suggested a place to get it re-plated. It was in England somewhere and ridiculously cheap (about 6 quid I think). I had it silver plated and have never had a problem with it since. If you like your wick maybe this is an option Paul Rocky Mountain Brassworks -- unsubscribe or receive the list in digest form, mail a message of 'help' to listserver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
