Or was it English protectionism (don't shoot me for >that) and Roy having good relations with Fairey, as e.g. their former conductor. snip mmm...thanks for your kind comments Eddy........l take your comments on board, BUT...let me ask a few questions....why would Roy be "having good relations" with us when we sacked him for the Major in 1989...Roy is as far as I know an excellent judge, in comparison with some others..and does have an excellent ear...also if Faireys were SO ROUGH at that contest, what does that say about the standard of brilliantly balanced/controlled European performances (listen to the recordings!!!) and about all the audience who clapped/screamed etc. etc. for minutes more (maybe they were just glad we had finished!!!!).....or have i got the wrong year..... ahhh well...couldn't not respond to that one!!!
