I think these are both "sound enough" ideas you've had re. this ...... and
it will be interesting to watch what eventually happens, but why wait until
the Year 2000 contest to implement any changes?

Even on the "official" video of 1998's contest (all footage of which was
taken at Uppermill) many of those performances that were featured were
duplicate clone-type efforts made by another band ..... which therefore
made the video a little tedious to sit through in places (thank goodness
for FFwd. buttons I say) <chuckle>

It made me wonder though what (if any) criteria the producer of this video
has when deciding who to include and who to leave out. Was it just a
random selection or were there certain bands he simply HAD to include,
through tradition or whatever? Does anybody know? Does anybody (else)
care for that matter?

Incidentally Reindeer Brass (a scratch band of about 35, including myself,
hubby and a friend), who played somewhere in the middle of the evening's
proceedings at Uppermill, were NOT one of those bands featured on the
video, so naturally as participants we are reasonably disappointed that not
even a brief snapshot of our performance of "The Contester" was included
(sorry but when it's an unrehearsed scratch band methinks you simply HAVE
to choose something most people know to make doing this type of event
worthwhile at all !). By our own and others watching's standards ......
Uppermill was apparently one of our better performances of the evening (if
not the contests .... we never featured in the prize list either).

Regards to all.
