The TUBAEUPH list has recently had to tighten up it's security after the TRU-VU spam which originated from a harvest of that list. One hears lots of rumours but to date only one concete example of such a harvest. There seem to be urban myths floating around like the bass trombone firework story - funny the first time but not after 50 - but no one who claims that this list has been trawled has ever backed it up by evidence. As I have always stated, I get very irritated by other people making money out of my efforts. I allow concert announcements (they're good for the movement) but nothing else, not even the sale of a CD or the announcement of a festival. Why? Because they expect me to do their advertising for free, I do the effort, they make the money. I don't find that funny, especially as I have a music business to run and it all takes time. I run the classifieds on the Web and sits vac to take pressure off the list not to make money a la British Bandsman. Enough said from me. -Nigel -- Nigel Horne.
