Whilst I hear this often stated percussionist's complaint, brass players do
not have to transport 5 or more pieces of equipment onto every contest
platform. In any field of more than, say, 10 bands or at a contest where more
than one section is using the same hall on the same day, the endless carrying
on and off of percussion adds significantly to the time that the section
takes. That makes the job of the adjudicator and the bands playing later in
the day that much harder. We all deserve a fair crack of the whip.
