Some help please.

Walking past a charity shop this morning I spotted some LPs outside. In
amongst the dross were a few SA & a few brass band recordings. I also found a
78 recording of St Hildas Colliery Band playing Poet & Peasant (in 2 parts of
course!). I bought for 50pence (don't want to be too extravagant).

It set me thinking. Does anyone have a reliable method of dating either this
recording or anyother 78s?
