Although for Alec's sake, it is not the same impact as the original strings (BTW, the ORIGINAL original was for string quartet, not string orchestra), they do it justice in their own right. FWIW, my brass quintet has read down an arrangement of the Adagio, although I cannot remember by whom it was arranged. Although there are FEW notes, the obvious challenge is maintaining the musical LINE.
