The Slow Melody I mentioned is the Elland Silver Band Slow Melody contest,
which has been running now, I think for about 6 years. It is one of the
most successful in the area usually attracting around 60+ entrants. There
are 5 different sections.

11 and under
14 and under
16 and under
Open
Veterans (over 40)

Trophies are offered for all sections and there are various special awards.
(Last year there was almost 30 entrants in the 11 and under section). There
is catering facilities offered and there are a few public houses near
by....should you require one!)

As yet I don't have a date, but it is usually around the middle of May.
(Normally advertised in the Bandsman)

By the way this isn't an ad, but anyone interested to find out more should
e-mail me privately and I can send out entry forms once they are in print.

(By the way Indian is one of my favourite test pieces, it was my first
too!!)
