If you call 30 years playing experience in just about every style of music a
brass player can get involved with then yes, I'm narrow minded & insular! In
fact, I spend most of my playing time these days outside of brass bands.
I agree, you don't have to like everything about the current instrumentation
of the brass band - I also have views as to things that can be done. But
lets cut out the orchestral picc players are better than you moron sop
players bit! IMO it's a pointless comparison that only serves to annoy the
sop players who read it.

As is often the case, David Lancaster put forward very valid points on the
subject.
