Carol, I couldn't agree more. I can't understand why it should ever be other than that. The solo eupho plays over the second, the first baritone plays over the second etc. Why sould the second horn play over the first and the first over the solo? It only works when the quality of players are virtually equal which is rare in my experience. For some strange reason, most Australian bands adopt that arrangement cos they want the solo horn next to the flugel but I think its wrong and hopefully we might change our seating for the upcoming nationals with our new horn section.
