I Have played for over 10 years and have NEVER EVER

Leaving aside all your other comments to and about Ian McK - if you have
*really* never come across the piccolo trumpet in ten years of brass
playing, there is, I would respectfully suggest, a looming gap in your
knowledge of brass. This can be remedied by a visiting your local
specialist classical CD shop, and seeking out recordings of baroque trumpet
concertos by such luminaries as John Wallace, Hakan Hardenberger and Wynton
Marsalis, and CDs by brass ensembles such as London Brass, Canadian Brass,
old PJBE recordings - to name but a few.

And if you want to hear picc playing at its most mellifluous (in my humble
opinion), listen to the playing of Frederic Mills and Ronald Romm on 'The
Canadian Brass Plays Great Baroque Music' - RCA Red Seal RCD1-3554.
Stunning stuff from start to finish, and including the most thrilling
version of Bach's Tocc & Fugue in D Minor for quintet you will ever hear!

Best wishes

Alec
