I note with interest the recent discussion on the above subject. I'm no
expert but experience is a wonderful teacher...
 
Some of my voraciously edited offerings on the subject.
 
(1) 90% of  band members have very little appreciation of what the 10%
who form the "inner circle" ie the committee (or those at the coal face
doing the work) actually have to do to keep 'the show on the road'.
 
(2) Most committees consist of 2 or 3 doer's, 1 thinker. The balance of
the committee being excess baggage.
 
(3) 95% of problems arise from poor communication.
 
(3) 90% of band members have yet to realise that there is no such thing
as the "perfect conductor/musical director".
 
(4)  No member has a right to anything! (despite what they may think).
Membership is a priviledge and should be respected as such.
