I was playing with a band (that we left due to politics!) where we were
required to pay 1 per week.  This is only 52 a year but gets somewhat
expensive with myself, wife and three children all playing.

We found another band (Great Yarmouth Brass) that welcomed all five of us.
Imagine our surprise when we were told that the senior band do not pay any
fees at all - and definitely no contributions towards coaches.  The junior
band was formed 18 months ago and currently has to charge 10 per child per
term for the use of the school for rehearsals.

Sometimes a lot of band members seem to forget that banding is a hobby and
very often hobbies can cost you a lot of money.  If your hobby is golf you
would pay many hundreds of pound a year for membership fees and then green
fees on top of that, and that's without the equipment you need.

We will be in 4th section Stevenage - but I don't know about the draw.
