I play in an A Grade band in Melbourne, and we pay NO FEES to play in the
band.  Yes, you read right.  However we do pay $2 per year (again, not a
misprint) to be a financial voting member of the band, as we are an
incorporated body.

Believe me though, we have a large job commitment during the year and the
band does get it's pound of flesh from the players.  Also we travel to the
Nationals each year and each player would probably fork out between $150 to
$200 for travel and accommodation for the weekend.  So I guess it all evens
out in the long run.
