As a member of Stourport-on-Severn (third section) I pay 25 per year with a contribution of 3 every time we use a coach. I find this amount fine seeing as though it works out at approx 25p a rehearsal and we have a rehearsal room ( not five star!!!)a conductor, music, uniform and more recently brand new instruments!!! The Subs do not cover the expenses and coach contributions don't cover it's cost so the numerous concerts, park jobs etc, etc, make up the difference!! How many other hobbies are there for such little outgoings and such unadultered fun ( and pressures, tears, rainy park jobs, affairs, stroppy arguements etc!!!!!! NOT in our band I hasten to add - well certainly not the latter!!!) My dear husband ( our principle cornet - but that's another e:mail - ) has just said brownies, ( I am to concerned to find out how HE knows the details of Brownie subs) scouts etc are much cheaper. I did remind him he was in the scouts ( or brownies for that matter) a few years ago. But perhaps I will stand corrected ???? Will be at the Midlands Third section on 7th March to beat University of Warwick ( the challenge appears to have been laid down by Dave Taylor)!!!!! See you all there!!
