Jonathan, Thanks for replying. It's certainly not the first time. The last I can remember was Sounds which happily reminds me at our European win with WIllebroek in Plymouth 1993. Sounds was the test-piece. It had a quiet ending and John Golland was forced (on an earlier occasion) to add an impressive end with a big note at the end. Silly philosophy although the end was ok, the addition was ok also as is the whole piece. John Golland was a fine composer and a pitty we lost him to early. There will be certainly more examples. I think adding a part is never a good thing. It looks often as lipstick on a pig. Edy >>> "Jonathan Miller" <Jonathan.Miller@xxxxxxxxx> 02/28/99 02:29pm >>> Edy Interesting to hear comments on this test piece. My main query is why a piece which is already written and available, has been subsequently amended and lengthened as a test piece. In effect, to copies of the same piece by the same composer will be available but one about 2/3 minutes longer than the original, with new scoring. Is this the first time an existing piece has been amended in this way for contesting purposes?
