Mary Ellen,

Here is a list of concerts/contests I know of between the dates you
mentioned:

Sunday 23rd May - Brighouse & Rastrick concert in Huddersfield (Town Hall I
think)
Friday 28th May - Whit Friday march contest, in the Oldham area
Sunday 30th May - All England Masters contest & gala concert, in Cambridge

Whit Friday is an excellent event to see, there are lots of bands marching
through the local villages in the morning, followed by the march/quickstep
contest between approx 4pm to 11pm in nearly all the local villages of the
Saddleworth and Tameside areas.

The All England Masters contest is also a must-see, as all the top bands
(except Black Dyke) will be competing.  The gala concert in the evening will
include the Eikanger band from Norway, conducted by Ray Farr.  Should be an
excellent day.
