Good grief Ade - what are you trying to do - get me bombed off this list? I'm already getting enough stick from Nigel Horne without relating the
story of Ian DickMAN's art - deco body part painting!!! (It is a really funny story though folks - if you press me hard enough - I'll tell you the
story one day)!

Nicked - NICKED!!!! - How can you suggest such a thing Adriano. I have to be careful with the G.U.S. story - it's many years ago - and
coincidentally - I am very pleased to say that as of last night, I - after many years of inactive playing - have been approached by G.U.S. and have
accepted a position on their trombone section. I am delighted to be back and if I can get the trombone from under the bed and free the slide I'll
be happy to make any list members acquaintance at The Masters at Cambridge. (Please take note of the posting from Rob Norman which I have just read
myself).

G.U.S. were always our great rivals in the midlands area. It was a time when they were winning on a regular basis - the first time I played at the
Royal Albert Hall was October 4th 1966 - G.U.S. won on Carnival Romaine, I heard 'em, they and Stanley Boddington were magic. They kept getting
bye's at the area so we kept winning it. However - when Dr. K. Wilkinson was their conductor the friendly rivalry that always existed between the
two bands was at its zenith!!!

After one particular area contest - as a mark of our respect for them - some of the other lads on our coach decided that they wanted a memento of
the day - and when we pulled in for a pint on the way home - G.U.S. were there. It was thought that their sign from their coach might be the
appropriate item - unfortunately - there wasn't any of them around to ask at the time as we were piling on the coach to leave, so some of the
rowdier element of our band from the Leicestershire area decide to acquire the sign and ask G.U.S. at a later date. I can only assume this didn't
happen!!! Of course - with the passage of time - the details have become hazy - someone else across the pond may have entirely different
recollections of the event!!!

Ah well - all part of lifes rich pageant. Whatever the implications at the time - it warms my heart to be reminded of them so many years later -
and the humour of it all makes me smile even now!!!

Keep 'em coming Ade,

Colin.
