I think Dyke demonstrated to the world an important aspect of the ethos of brass
banding, which is that basic things like fulfilling a firm engagement matter
more than clever things like showing off themselves, or brass bands in general,
to a billion people. I applaud their action: I think we can all learn something
from it, and I suspect a good few of those billion people will respect Dyke, and
by extension the rest of us, the more for it.

I totally agree, though some may feel that Dyke was right to honour it's
obligations surely a way could have been found around it.  It was such a
missed opportunity to promote the brass band sound to an audience that no
band may have the potential to play to again.

Surely we should be promoting this marvellous artform to a wider general
public, to people who may never have even heard a British Style brass band
in action before.
