"the good few of those billion people" you refer to won't respect the
decision because they will never know about it.  The point I was making is
that brass bands are small fish in the sea in the overall scheme of things
and here was a chance to become one of the big fish, and a greater good
could have been served in the long term by Dyke giving the brass band sound
such huge exposure.

I understand why people believe it was the right thing to do but again I say
surely a way could have been found around it, either a change of date for
the concert or another top class band filling in??

Again I say a missed opportunity.
