Hi, I played Stantonbury Festival in youth band for the areas, it's a lovely piece of music. Also, New Buckenham Suite (complete with animal noises - very fun !) I would highly reccommend you go in the Youth Section (as opposed to the 4th) its for bands with players Under 19. Once you get to areas level it is a great feeling competing in the large venues (the finals were at the Royal Festival Hall in those days) - Even our School Band got to the finals one year (the same year i played in the finals with youth band also ... ) so it's not that hard !! :) I think the test pieces are set so that solves one problem, maybe you could contact the ppl who run the finals and ask them for a list of past test pieces ? Other than that, I have all my old programs at home in a s-book I'll dig them out as I competed between 1989 and 1995 (unfortunately the year we won - the programs sold out so i dont have one, just a photocopy :( Claire.
