Women in bands - 10 good reasons

10 GOOD REASONS FOR HAVING WOMEN IN BANDS

1. Bring packed lunches onto the coach

2. Can sew on blazer badges

3. Release men from having to play the "girls instruments" (flugel and t
enor
horns)

4. Keep band room tidy

5. Very effective at high pitched squealing in response to good contest
results

6. Are occasionally attractive

7. May have attractive friends

8. Get changed on the coach (see 6)

9. Organize raffles/make tea etc at concerts

10. They might let you snog them (see 6)

PS My wife plays (tenor horn obviously) in the same band as me and it is

hell. She did however manage to play at the Area Contest in 1997, one wee
k
before giving birth to our son who remains a big fan of Lowry Sketchbook.
 It
has to be said though that he had already been described as a brass band
geek
well before his second birthday. I suspect that he is already deeply
psychologically scarred by his exposure to brass bands as a fetus.
He enjoys conducting with a baton given to him by Jeremy Wise (no less) a
nd
has only poked one of his eyes out with it (thanks Jeremy).
