Re: G trombones and wibbleage thereof

Daffyd wrote about a "G" trom and whilst not being anally retentive I felt
compelled to relate a story (just one of many) about a dear departed good
friend, Wally Marshall.
Wal was an ex SA trombonist who "lost his way" and took to enjoying a drop
of the amber fluid.
He played a "handle" trom with Melbourne Tramways over here in Oz and over
the years developed a knack for flicking the handle on the slide and
catching it before it reached the end of it's required travel.
One night at rehearsal, and after a "drop of the doin's" Wal flicked the
handle but his timing was out by just a "poofteenth of a mili-amp".
You guessd it, the slide went hurtling across the Bandroom like an errant
spear, nearly impaling the MD on it's way.
It was a very humble and apologetic Wal who made his way across the room to
retrieve it, to the absolute delight of the rest of the band.
