Hi Richard (Fellow percussionist).

I think one of the best things to get audiences is a mailing list.  I'm
currently trying to establish one for my own band as we have had troubles
filling halls in the past too.

A brass band located near my band (our good friends at Nunawading) have an
extensive mailing list and they do about 4 concerts a year and fill a hall that
seats about 700 people everytime.  In fact if you don't get to the venue early
you will miss out on a seat.  They also play a more "modern" program, with a
guest vocalist or two - no dreary test music allowed!  Once you establish a
"following" you should have no trouble filling your concert halls.
