I have brought a number of Trumpets and Cornets in from the USA and there
was 15 % VAT plus 6% duty .VAT is now of course 17.5 % so the total payable
is 23.5% if the same rules apply. You need quite a big saving to make it
worthwhile. This can often be the case with American brands, but it also
depends on the exchange rate. There is a lot to be said for actually playing
a few instruments and choosing one that suits yourself which you can't do
mail order..
