It won't affect it. The Area tables run on the last 3 years average
placings in the regional contest.

Hmm, I worry about this one too. As secretary of our band, I have to post
registration cards and stuff on a regular basis. I will definitely be
getting "proof of posting" forms in future. I would hope that in the event
of something going astray, I would be given the opportunity to tell the
organisers I had sent the stuff!

This also shows the importance of organisers of events sending
acknowledgements and receipts promptly (yes I know it wouldn't have helped
here, but it's still relevant.) I recently had to wait 4 months for a
receipt for a deposit I had sent for an event (you know who I mean?!!)
That's not acceptable. It doesn't save organisers any time not sending
them, as I will phone them if I don't hear in a reasonable time.

Anyway, back on thread, I think Redbridge have hit it on the head in their
statement when they say:

"..... that final decisions
have been made without Redbridge (or any other of the bands concerned)
being asked to make representations or to explain. ....etc.....
we firmly believe that the NCC decision
is contrary to the letter and spirit of the rules. "

Yes rules are important, but in such a prestigious contest as the National
finals, I think there is a case for the organisers to send a reminder a week
or 10 days before the deadline to bands who haven't responded.

Even British Telecom will send a red bill before they cut you off!
