In response to Nigel's comment, what I meant to convey (and
perhaps should have
to sound less cynical) was that, being a sole player
instrument in the band (and
an instrument rarely used in other musical groups except the
occasional jazz
band) the likely number of interested people is going to be
very small indeed.
It therefore might be worthwhile considering joining forces
with the tenor horn
society or the cornet society as a sub-division.
