Hi

Tips I have been given and things that I have found to work.

1. Send them home with their lips buzzing and their ears ringing.
2. Don't enjoy the sound of your own voice too much.
3. Prepare properly - know what you want from a piece before you get there.
4. If you cock it up - admit it and apologise - you won't kid anyone.
5. Remember that it is a hobby and they have to want to be there.
6. Also remember that people enjoy winning more than losing.
7. Be even handed - don't pick on the easy victim and leave the principal
cornet or biggest bloke alone.
8. Shout sometimes - it doesn't hurt but have good reason and time it
right - the night before a contest not usually the right time.
9. Don't criticise others for faults which you have yourself - punctuality,
attendance, reliability etc etc
