Bathgate is situated in West Lothian which is one of Scotland's main 'hotbeds' of banding. Whitburn, home of the current Scottish Champions, is about 4 miles away but there are numerous other bands within about 10 miles or so, including Kinneil, Bo'ness & Carriden, Broxburn Public, Broxburn Silver, Livingston, Fauldhouse, Shotts, etc. Also, the hugely successful West Lothian Schools Band. Brass tuition has been available free of charge throughout West Lothian since the early 1970s and players have generally been in plentiful supply. Hope this helps.
