Hi List, Suddenly before our rehearsal last Tuesday the landlord/manager of the pub just outside Kidderminster where we store our belongings and rehearse informed us that the building is in the process of being sold and converted to flats...he says may well go through in November....so we have to be quick to find a replacement. Up to now we have been fortunate that the room we use we don't pay for rent or heating/lighting (I'm not sure given the state of repair and access that they would be able to charge for it's use...but that's another story). Obviously we would like as soon as possible to find a new home both to store the music, trophies<G>, percussion and some instruments...plus it is particularly useful to be able to leave the percussion set up and chairs/stands etc ready for each rehearsal...although separate storage in the same building would be acceptable as next best. We are currently all beavering away contacting organisations, companies, individuals, etc who may be able to help....first with at least rehearsal facilities (initially we would have to store belongings spread around members garages, spare rooms etc)...then longer term more permanent facilities. Although it's early days, initial contacts haven't been too encouraging...eg a hall in a residential area thinks the band would be too loud etc....or the crochet circle are meeting or cubs etc....on nights when we need to rehearse....set as Tuesdays and Friday evenings....currently not at all easy to change due to our MDs commitments and how the band members have already arranged any lives outside the band. We are also contacting the usual local papers, radio and TV etc. This list was another place to contact and so we were looking for anyone on the list who:- a) May know of a suitable premises for a bandroom we can locate to. around Stourport or Kidderminster, Worcestershire available Tuesdays and Fridays 7:45 pm to 9:45 pm for rehearsals space to store our belongings and preferably leave setup. although we currently enjoy facilities free of charge for hiring and electric etc...we aren't necessarily looking for free facilities...either agreed charges and/or reduced etc for some free concerts. or b) Ideas from fellow listees whose bands have gone through the same situation and ideas of where and how they managed to solve their problem? any ideas or locations gratefully received! :-) thanks for reading this. PS. perhaps any specific places in our locality it may be better to e-mail me personally...but general ideas that may be applicable to other bands who may find themselves in this predicament would be useful replied to the list.
