Birmingham Band Quiz Results

Marred by late withdrawals (as is traditional for any Brass Band
Contest), City of Birmingham's annual Quiz, "Brains of Brass",
attracted nine teams from around the West Midlands to Lloyds Bank
Sports Club on Saturday 9th October, including a guest appearance
from Mr B Hurdley Esq., fresh from Cornwall. Treated to a broad
range (occasionally bizarre, warped and lunatic) of questions the
contest was keenly fought throughout and without the usual disputes
on the subject of golf.

A team from the Staffordshire Band - curiously named Haggis,
Mushy Peas and Two Faggots - were the eventual winners,
prevailing over City of Birmingham and a combined team from
Amington/Sovereign who were joint second. Not far behind in fourth
place were a team from Shirley Band, finally relinquishing their iron
grip on the title.

The objective of the quiz was to promote social activity between the
various bands of the West Midlands and beyond and it is intended to
hold a Brains of Brass IV on the same weekend next year, so keep
your diaries open and sharpen your brains for that.
