Two comments:

1)  To play pedal notes properly takes a good ear and loads of practice, as
well as a natural 'physique' *i.e. big lips* to do them.  In-tune pedals are
great, but it is the pocket watch syndrome: if they are used all the time,
they quickly lose effectiveness.

2) Which band do you play for?
