As a sideline to this discussion, I would like to have experienced advocates of really low bass parts to peruse a 98K ACROBAT file I propose for a BB-flat bass part in a new BB transcription of Ray Premru's tuba concerto written in memory of John Fletcher. Ray sat next to Fletcher for many years in the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. Originally for solo and orchestra, Ray's widow has authorized me to work on a wind band and BB versions of this wonderful (and difficult) piece. I believe that the Gregson's popularity derives (partly) from its multiple versions. While Premru's concerto is much more difficult, I believe that it would receive more attention with the multiple versions. Drop me a line off-list to get a copy of the file. All comments (even negatives) will be welcome;-) Henry Howey Professor of Music Sam Houston State University Huntsville, TX 77341 FAX (409) 294-3765 W (409) 294-1364 Owner of FINALE Discussion List --
