Our Solo Horn player has a similar problem - allegy of the chops to metal mouthpieces. For her, the solution was to get her mouthpiece "turned" down, screw threaded and then fitted with a plastic rim. She has the benefit of a metal cup and body, but mouth contact on a very hard plastic rim (the full thickness of the metal rim it replaced). I dont recall where she had it done, but I could find out if anyone is interested. I think it is cheaper than a UKP71 wooden one though not cheap - and you need a donor mouthpiece to start. An Aussie chap also told me that you could get them powder coated (plastic encapsulated) for ten cents (methinks he exaggerated a bit or maybe thats just the impression he tried to give me) - I have no experience of that.
