Martin, E and Eb fingered open and 1st are always dodgy on Eb instruments - the same applies for Horn and Bass. The first bad habit I got out of when learning bass was to stop fingering E's open, and to use 1&2 instead. Maybe some genius knows why this problem exists on Eb instruments, but not Bb? Also, top G is a very flat note on my sovereign Eb Bass. Is this just me, or have other people found this a bugger of a note to tune? (we need it to put in the Bass Trombone queues for annoyance value!)
