It really shouldn't be, unless there's something wrong with either the instrument or the way you blow. Actually, it's probably a flaw in the positioning of the bends in the tube in the design of Besson basses - if a node (or is it an antinode - I can never remember) is right on a bend, I imagine that that would affect the tuning. Possibly the same explanation would work for the Es and Ebs above. Blown perfectly straight, the high G should be slightly sharp, although many instruments (Sovereign Euphs are notedly bad) exaggerate this hugely. Dave Taylor --
