(i discount the Bernearts arrangement because the one on the
CD has an absolutely outstanding Sop part at the end as the most
distinguishing feature).

Actually, I think that it may be the Bernearts arrangement that you've heard 
- we have it and although it's really boring for most of the band, it does 
sound ok, and there is a tremendous sop part for the final quarter or so of 
the piece...:-)
