I was also surprised - I don't think that everyone is yet fully aware of the implications of Boosey's decision. I had heard on the grapevine that several regional committees had decided to disband following the area contests next spring, but most now seem to be adopting a wait-and-see attitude. > Who is likely to emerge as the new managers? BFBB? a private promoter? The contract to run the Nationals has now been offered to the BFBB (Federation) who have formed a sub-committee to examine the possibility of them running it, but I understand that in principle they have accepted it. > And what will be the fate of the regional competitions - these are > autonomous and are not directly influenced by this change. It is possible that there could be no change, if the Regional committees continue to function as before, but many of them are run by people with interests in the NCC so there might be some shake-up of personnel. Personally I'd like to see the Area contests in the hands of local associations, to cut out one layer of 'management' and make the work of the Associations relevant to more bands. Since the Federation also manage the Registry this would seem to be a good opportunity to bridge the gap between the two sets of rules, if Booseys will allow that to happen. In principle this could be the opportunity which we've (all?) been waiting for to bring the major contests, registry etc. under one organisation, directly accountable to bands via their local associations, with their own premises and professional officers. In practice the Federation has much work to do to convince many of us that they are up to the task. What happens to the alleged 50,000 pounds which the NCC has in the bank? Thanks for starting this one off Andy. Where are you on this one? David (entirely my own views, not writing as member of Northern Regional Committee, Yorkshire and Humberside Association...) --
