Help Me Keep My Job!!!


It's not everyday that your Boss rings you up and asks if you can
organise a small brass group to play Christmas music at the company's
Head Office Christmas party!  Unfortunately, when I'm based in London
and the Head Office is based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, it's not
everyday you want to receive a call like that ..... suddenly being a
'fixer' on an international basis has lost its appeal!!

My request to everyone on the list who may be able to help ....

Does anyone know of or belong to a brass band who are in or near to
Boston (or Winchester, Mass. USA which is where the party is actually
being held), who would be prepared to meet the challenge that has been
set before me?

The details are as follows:

1. Date: Sunday, 19 December 1999
2. Playing: three or four 30 minute slots
3. Start Time: 1.30 in the afternoon
4. Finish Time: 6.30 in the evening (approx.)
5. Number of people: There's room for 6 people (so maybe 3 cornets,
horn, trombone, bass???)
6. Fee: There is a fee payable, but the amount has not been fixed and
will be up for negotiation
7. Fun: There'll be food and drink available to get into the festive
spirit!
8. Music: Predominantly Christmas carols, but some Christmas/Party type
selections would be most welcome (by the players too I suspect!)

If anyone has any interest or any suggestions, please email me direct as
soon as possible - if I don't get any feedback we may end up with 'Des
O'Connor's Christmas' on CD!!!!!

So please help if you can - it doesn't even have to be a group all from
the same band ..... likewise, if anyone on the list is travelling that
way at that time, maybe we could get a 'scratch ensemble' together???

I can't believe that I've been able to convert my Boss to the sounds of
Brass Bands (he really is a most unlikely candidate!) ... so please help
me keep his enthusiasm by giving him a Christmas party he'll remember!
....... it'd also be nice for me to still have a job in January too!!!
