HI, everyone!

I agree mostly with Rolf's statements, but disagree about the origin of the
node holes.  There are examples of node holes existing back in the 19th
century.  Exact placement and full understanding of their operation may have
waited until the 20th century, however...

I agree emphatically and enthusiastically about Niklas Eklund!  He is BY FAR
the best natural trumpet player I have ever heard!  I used to think Crispian
Steele-Perkins was the the best, but Niklas... well Niklas is just
phenomenal!!!  

He has three volumes of the "Art of the Baroque Trumpet" and each one is a
joy to listen to.  His flexibility and intonation is impeccable, and his
interpretation is excellent to my ears.  He has a site on the Naxos records
website which indicates more volumes on the way!

He plays an Egger instrument which I >believe< has three holes.  One takes
care of the high F/F# intonation problem, and the other two remove the even
and odd harmonics, respectively.  Handy feature, that!!!

BTW he is Bengt Eklund's son, which explains why I thought the name sounded
familliar.  Bengt is very active in brass banding and is the director of one
whose name escapes me at the moment.
